VIRTUAL SOUL BOX-MAKING GATHERINGS

Physical distancing doesn’t have to mean social distancing. Join us as we come together online, via Zoom technology, to share experiences and build community.

Zoom allows us to talk to each other in real-time, face-to-face, on our computers, smartphones and tablets.

You can also listen and talk with a landline or mobile phone (no video).

Interested in joining a session?

Contact us at rsvp@soulboxproject.org and we’ll send you the link.

PLEASE NOTE: For the next month or two, our virtual sessions will be held every other week. We will alternate week days and times to accommodate various time zones.

Martin Luther King, Jr. advocated powerfully for nonviolent action. Making a Soul Box is one kind of nonviolent action you can take. We honor Dr. King by addressing the gunfire epidemic, which has become a way of life and death for too many.  Exhibits of Soul Boxes raise a mighty visual hymn in support of Dr. King's message of love and unity.

The damage done by one bullet causes  ripple effects of loss, engulfing families, friends, and communities. Soul Boxes honor not only people killed by bullets, but individuals who survive with injuries, and families and friends who live with loss and trauma. Join us to fold Soul Boxes for these people during Gun Violence Survivors Week.

Wednesday, February 3

and we’ll send you the link.

What to expect

We’ll begin every virtual gathering by folding a Soul Box together. If you’re new to folding, please watch our instructional video and look at the instructions beforehand. There will always be an experienced Soul Box-maker available to walk you through the steps. Although each gathering has a “theme,” the conversation will take its own course.

Things to do BEFORE your virtual Soul Box-making gathering

  • Download the Zoom application. Otherwise, you will be prompted to download and install Zoom when you click our join link before the meeting.
  • Join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom.
  • Watch our Soul Box-making video and review our folding instructions.
  • Assemble your Soul Box-making supplies: at least two sheets of 8 1/2-inch square paper and any art supplies to adorn your Soul Box.
